“All the World’s a Stage[d Reading] Series off to a great start!

The first audience members arrive to get coffee and a snack before the reading.

There were smiles all around at our inaugural staged reading, beginning the series that will continue every second Sunday through December.  We began the series with “Overruled” by George Bernard Shaw, and the laughter that filled the room during the performance proved the evening to be a great success.  Come see our next reading, “Trifles” on July 10th at 5:30p.m. at Mojo’s Coffee and More in Bay Village.

A tip of the hat to Mojo’s Coffee and More for allowing us to use their space for our performances.

Kudos to John Hnat, Dave Hopkins, Margaret Hnat, Jenny Erbs, and Neil Donnelly for sharing their talents.

See the flyer below for our future performance dates!

Welcome to our website!

Who are we, what are we trying to accomplish, and how do we intend to accomplish our goals?

The Citizens for Bay Village Community Theater was formed to preserve community theater in Bay Village after the Cleveland Metroparks announced it was ending its relationship with Huntington Theater, Inc. Our initial informational meeting was held at the Bay Village Library in September 2015. The meeting was set to gauge interest in keeping community theater in Bay Village. From the response, we determined there was and we are moving forward.

Our Mission Statement:

To Continue to Provide Quality Community Theater and Theater Education for the City of Bay Village.

Summary Plan:

Our first order of business has already been successfully completed! We attained non-profit 501(c)(3) status and are now accepting donations that are tax deductible to the donor.

Our next step, secure a permanent home for our group. Our first choice is to return to the Huntington Playhouse, which is property of the Metroparks. We have had several conversations with Metroparks to show our interest. We have written a letter describing how the facility could be utilized by our group and how we would approach funding our efforts. Our goal to secure the current Huntington Playhouse facilities is our present first choice for many reasons.

A formal Business Plan is presently being finalized to present to the Metroparks for consideration. We wish to become a welcomed affiliate of the Metroparks using the current Huntington Playhouse.

We feel we are the best choice to be considered as the next occupant of that location. If the Metroparks decides to use the building for a different purpose, we will then attempt to secure another location in the City of Bay Village.

First, become an active part of our effort by:

Sharing/Volunteering your talents: we need willing people with many different talents to fulfill our goal. We need fundraisers, grant writers, set designers, lighting designers, people to help make our future facility a gem to the community. In short, we need willing hands across the board; please let us know of your interest and talents and we will be more than happy to welcome you.

Attend meetings: to be up-to-date on what is happening with our organization, I encourage you to attend our regularly scheduled meetings and become a member of the organization.

Donate: your time, your efforts, and now even your money. Did I mention that we are a 501(c)(3) organization? Any money you donate is tax-deductible. December 31 is approaching; we would love for you to consider our organization and its goals as a worthy beneficiary of your charity.

Visit this site often for updates: we will be using this site to update everyone.

Tell your friends: if you wish to have community theater continue in Bay Village, please spread the word about our organization. If we all pull in one direction, amazing things can happen! Many hands make a challenging task much easier.
